Title: Raw water pump
Post by: Hozpypr on January 07, 2026, 06:27:36 PM
My 1990 27-2 Has a Sherwood raw water pump unlike the one shown in the book. It has 3 fasteners on the cover plate, not 6 as shown in the book. It is leaking at the base where it bolts to the engine. Looking for any info on this pump, like model number or parts, or anyone who's pulled one of these off.
Thanks

Leaking at the base usually indicates that a shaft seal has failed, requiring removal and a rebuild or replacement. Most Sherwood pumps have a model number stamped on the back, easily visible upon removal from the engine. When the Sherwood M5 pump on the Universal M2-12 engine in my CP27 required rebuild I ordered a kit from Marinepartsandpumps https://ebay.us/m/Amq3jW. I also purchased a new Oberdorfer replacement pump and tackled the Sherwood rebuild later. Now I always have a fresh replacement pump on board.
