Title: Full cover
Post by: Urban Hermit on December 07, 2025, 04:30:22 PM
I'm contemplating moving my 16 from the carport to unsheltered storage.  Does anyone know of a source of a good full custom-fitted cover, or have suggestions?  I'd rather not use a Home Depot tarp.

If you live in northern Illinois, our daughter works for a canvass shop. She's made me a bimini, sail covers, and interior cushions. She's even won awards for her work.

I use a decent hdpe tarp off Amazon which I've found to be inexpensive and also stands up to uv abuse decently. I do wish they made ready made covers for CP16 as they are so numerous.

I've read that

are pretty good, might work for you.

Good luck,

Bryan

$602 for a 16. Cheaper than a car port.

The tarp I put on my 16 was this one https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0D2X71721?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1 . I am not sponsored btw (lol).

Its the perfect size (20x8) to hang just over the coaming and secure over the ends of the mast (be sure to pad the base side as the sharp edge will cut through the tarp in short order). A couple tie-downs and your boat is secure and covered, and the mast supports the tarp enough to allow air to circulate under, preventing mold issues.

The only issue is being in the sun every day it will deteriorate, but I've had one on my 19 for over a year now, and its just starting to fray. It has kept my cockpit clean and my sheets and furled jib in good condition. Pretty good for 30-50 bucks.
