Title: 2006 Eclipse shroud diameter
Post by: Bewildered on November 24, 2025, 11:45:22 AM
I searched the owners manual and the addendum that was generously provided but cannot find standing rig dimensions.  Particularly, shroud diameters or recommend tensions thereof.  Any help out there on this?

Al may chime in here, but if he or others don't, I wonder if the Fathom Metal Works folks who took over parts for Com-Pac could help with the shroud diameters. Another great resource is Rob Voigt, the former Com-Pac dealer in Michigan -- his contact info is noted on the Com-Pac website/webpage for assistance. Rob sailed an Eclipse for years and probably would have the answers you seek.

Chelle,

Thanks!  I was able to determine the shroud diameters by using the handy gauge on my Loos device.  It is 5/32" for the uppers.

May be just me but I've never been all that rigorous about shroud tension.  I adjust them so that the mast is straight, perpendicular and have a slight tension.  Then I go out in about 10kt winds and sail upwind and adjust the shrouds to remove any slack on the downwind side.  Tack and do the same on the other side.  Then when back at the dock or on the trailer verify that mast is still straight and perpendicular.

That has been my go-to method for many years as well for basic cruising boats.  However. I do like to refer to recommended standard tension parameters initially. Then go with the tried-and-true approach.
