Title: Dress Ship (Sort of)
Post by: KPL on May 28, 2007, 09:25:21 PM
Well, I used today as an excuse to break out the code flags my wife bought me for Christmas 4 years ago.  For all you nautical purists, I know: only at anchor on national holidays, a parade, or maiden launch.  Well, sometimes I think it should just be done because its fun. I also know it's supposed to be from the waterline at the anchor the the water line at the stern.

Well.. The mast isn't high enough to fly them all, so I also string them along the shrouds.

The little guy really enjoyed it all.  Photo is a little blurry, my wife took it through the kitchen window.

Kevin,
I was the Navigator on the Enterprise and on IKE. The engineers dressed the ship on holidays, but I think yours looks every bit as impressive.
BZ!

Just Beautiful!!
I enjoyed the other shots also...
You've got a great spot if that's the view from your kitchen window... WOW!
Enjoy

Thanks for all the comments.  It was a lot of fun.  My son is really looking forward to the 4th of July so we can do it again!

Dale-
Yes, we are very fortunate to live where we do.  We moved here 7 years ago when I was in the Air Force as a ROTC instructor.  I was medically discharge and hired by Clarkson University 2 years later.  We've decided to stay so we moved to the lake 2 years ago.  I think this is the last place in the world with affordable waterfront.  (waterfront homes range from 80's for a small camp to $300k for a 3,000 sq ft. newer home.... we're on the lower end of that range :) )

It's nice to pull into the driveway at the end of the day and say "wow, I really live here?!?"
