Title: Mast Raising
Post by: Bewildered on November 02, 2025, 08:56:25 PM
Has anyone seen a video tutorial on raising the mast on an Eclipse or other Com-Pac with similar mast raising system?  The manual is vague on that subject and I have read of several people having problems during their early attempts.

I have written the procedure down and would happy to share it with you.  Send me an E-Mail  alsantini46@gmail.com

The process is covered in the manual "addendum" I created.  Posted on the Eclipse section.

Captain,

Thanks for the valuable info and thorough step-by-step instructions on the process.  I do intend to use the MastRaiser system that came with the boat but wonder if it can be done alone and if it must be done on the hard or with the boat on my boat lift.  All advice is welcome and appreciated.

With the gin pole you can raise/lower the mast with the boat pretty much anywhere there is overhead clearance for it.  I do it in the water often to avoid traffic at ramp lots, and when there are trees in the way, so long as there isn't really rough water it's just as easy as on the hard.  It's a one-person job.  You can fairly easily step the mast without the mastender setup but should have an additional person to pin the forestay.  With the system it holds the mast vertical so you can go forward and do that task.  This makes it a great boat for single handed trailer sailing.

Slode,  Very encouraging tips. I have raised many masts on boats from Hobies to 65 footers but always had help.  Either another person or two and for the bigger boats, hydraulics.  I am hoping to do this alone on at my home dock with the boat either in the water or on the four point boat lift designed for it.  You suggestions give me the confidence that I can do this alone with care being paid to the shrouds being clear as the stick goes up.

Slide,
Your excellent step-by-step instructions worked perfectly, clearly and easily.  Thank you for your effort and considerable skill in putting that together.
