sarah and I cruised into the Carlyle Sailing Association tied up the boat and spent an hour or so inspecting the faclity. the docks are long and the floating type. one could easily accomodate our fleet. the ramp being private is easy to use with no waiting or daily fee. the building is way big. with room for anything . the kitchen is in the basement large and fully equipped. the building is surrounded by a deck with great views of the lake. we can also cook out or use a fire pit. cost is 10 bucks a night no matter what boat length. it is in Hazlett state park which has some great walking and biking trails. Sarah and I have ridden them. great if you have a mt. bike. check the sites. search carlyle sailing association and eldon hazlett state park. the harbormaster , Joe Jacobs, says all we have to do is check their schedule of events and pick a week that is open. the schedule doesnt come out until the first of the year so i have to wait until then to post the dates for clr more details later
Sounds great. Looking forward to it
heres the pros and cons regarding the sailing association. Pros: cheaper 10 dollars a night versus 25. quiet location- if you are sleeping aboard. great views of the lake. private boat ramp with no launching fee. much easiier to dock your boat. cons: you will have to drive a short distance to the motel or walmart. longer walk from the docks to the building. floating dock ( you can only tie up on one side. again check the site carlyle sailing association. CLR DATES CANNOT BE POSTED UNTIL CSA PUTS OUT THEIR SCHEDULE OF EVENTS (first of the year}
Sounds go to me, keep us informed, roger over and out.
will do
this may be a deal breaker but the sailing association docks do not have shore power
I only use shore power for a fan however, I can come up with a 12V DC fan instead.

Same here
ok good deal. i dont think that the long floating docks present too much of a problem unlike a slip you only can tie up on one side though. this is just an alternate plan . nothing has been finalized
No electricity is okay with me. I have solar and am buying a second lithium battery. Floating docks and side tie are fine also. The docks look well protected from waves/wakes.
Is that a beach to the left of the ramps?
That little beach area if i remember right is for the hand launch small boats like Lasers and the like.
Mac
yeah its not for swimming
Steve. No electricity is also OK with me. I have been contemplating adding an additional battery so one is start and one is accessories. Now I have an excuse to get er done.... Sail On, Al
WELL, LOOKS LIKE THE CARLYLE SAILING ASSOCIATION WILL BE HOSTING THE 2026 CLR. I TALKED WITH THE HARBOR MASTER JOE JACOBS AND HE ASSURED ME THAT HE WILL TAKE CARE OF OUR EVERY NEED, I WILL POST THE DATES AS SOON AS CSA COMES OUT WITH THEIR EVENT SCHEDULE, LOOKS LIKE MID JUNE WILL BE GOOD
Cool. Looking forward to it Steve. Submitted Sarah's picture of my Horizon in the early morning fog to Boat US magazine. Who knows her pic might get published... Have a great Thanksgiving. Sail On, Al
