Title: Pigtail
Post by: bob lamb on May 22, 2007, 07:51:48 PM
Hey Newbie;
  I have a cp23 and you're right; the pigtail is disconnected while the main is up.  No other line is needed for sailing.  Not familiar with the brochure you mention.

Thanks for the reassurance, the brochure is for the CP 23 at the ComPac manuf. website

Hi Newbie,

My CP 23-3 only has the pigtail you mentioned.  It sounds like the brochure is showing what is called a topping lift.  This is a line or wire that runs from the aft end of the boom to the top of the mast.  It's purpose is to take the weight of the boom off the sail when the sail is not filled with air.  It keeps the boom from dropping down the same as the pigtail you mentioned.
