Title: My interview with a Mini Globe Racer (Josh Kali!)
Post by: passagesfromtheheart on March 24, 2025, 02:21:48 PM
Crazycarl mentioned having met Mini Globe Racer, Josh Kali, in Oriental, NC, not too long ago. As a result, I looked into Josh and learned about his building a 5.8m/19.02ft sailboat to race in the inaugural 2025 Mini Globe Race created by Australian Don McIntyre - Don is also the man behind conceptualizing/organizing the Ocean Globe Race and Golden Globe Race.

The above all said, I was able to connect with Josh, this past Saturday, for an awesome Zoom meet-up while he is on a 'leg-break' in Panama, waiting for the start of the 2nd leg of the race - out of Panama and sailing 4k NM across the Pacific to the first "pit-stop" in French Polynesia.

In my interview, we talk about how he found his passion for sailing after having adventured as a climber for many years; how he found out about the MGR; how he built his 5.8m sailboat, Skookum, and how the boat is outfitted; we also dive into lots of others goodies, plus emergency plans, and what he is learning as he travels around the world aboard Skookum -- Josh is really an inspiring guy!

Below is the link to the interview -- if you feel so inclined to take a peek and also consider supporting Josh along his journey! We plan to do additional updates as he sails around the world, so stay tuned!
