Title: Launch Sites
Post by: crazycarl on March 19, 2025, 08:22:10 PM
Looking for Florida Keys launch ramps were vehicles and trailers can be stored for a couple weeks.

Any suggestions?

In 2014, there was a nice public boat ramp and parking in Marathon for launching and stepping the mast. It is on the gulf side. After launch, I paid to store my truck and trailer at a boat storage lot a few blocks away, walkable distance.
One thing I didn't realize before my trip, there are limited bridges high enough to cross under to Atlantic side.
The seven mile bridge was the closest point.
Hope that helps. Have fun!
Check out the sunset bar next to the large fish market, I think it was Keys Fisheries. Fresh fish to bar restaurant. Stone crabs rock. Might be out of season for those.

I have rented a mooring ball at John Pennekamp State Park several times over the years.  Not sure of the cost now but back then it was pretty cheep.  Along with good ramps, water, pumpout, etc, it buys you a secure spot for your truck and trailer while you explore the Keys.

I hear from an RV source that RV campgrounds in the Keys are booked solid years in advance.  Nothing said about where you could leave a trailer or find dock space, but be sure you have a place to land or tie up before you head for them.
