Title: I think I Made the Right Decision
Post by: crazycarl on March 02, 2025, 05:54:04 PM
Last September I was actively looking for a Flicka.  The idea was to have a boat that is seaworthy, yet trailer-able. This would mean I would only need 1 boat. A boat I could bring home to work on and secure for a hurricane. I couldn't find a Flicka so in late December I purchased a 27' Orion. Now I find not 1, but 3 Flickas for sale. One is right here in Oriental. Another is in Maryland, and the 3rd is in Guatemala. Yes that is a long distance to travel for a boat, but what an adventure bringing her home.

The Oriental boat I looked at today, but without the owner present, I couldn't see the interior. After finally seeing one up close, these boats are huge for a 20 footer!
10 years ago I kept from moving up to a Compac 23 because of the increased difficultly towing and rigging it over the 19. The Flicka would be much more difficult. The extra foot of draft alone causes problems when launching.

So, you would have four boats?  That is one more than me...  LOL   and, I hope to sell my Eclipse in April.  I think launching a Flicka at say Carlyle Lake would be a challenge.  Definitely need a tongue extension.

I would sell the other 3. That was my thinking. 1 boat that is seaworthy, yet trailer-able. (with standing headroom)
