Title: Hello Again!
Post by: MichaelQuigley on August 01, 2024, 09:47:18 PM
This is a combination of introduction, and "hello again."

I was a pretty active member of the CPYOA back in the early 2000's.

I started off with a 16 that I did an extensive restoration on:

I started out with an early 80's 16 and put all the bells and whistles on it that the later 16s had.

I eventually got 3-foot-itis and moved up to a 19:

I sailed the 19 for a couple of years and really, really enjoyed it.

I eventually moved on to a Beneteau 235, then a Nimble 20, and then a Corsair Dash 750 (trimaran). Ended up having a horrible accident with the Corsair and I've been boatless for the last 12 years or so.

Been getting the itch again. And I've also had a lot of time to really think about what I want out of a next boat...

If I had a magic wand, I'd love to find a really nice 1989+ CP-19, and pretty much keep it as my forever boat. My 19 was the best boat I'd ever owned, all around. It was the most fun. It was the easiest to live with. So, I'd really love to find a nice one and settle down.

I've also done a little bit of sailing with CaptK a long time ago. So he's kind of an old friend.

Anyway... just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. If anyone has any good leads on 19's, I'm all ears. Ideally I'd like to find one somewhere in the southeast (I'm in Charlotte, NC).

Looking forward to getting to know you all again!

Here's a picture of a raft-up in Southport, NC up in Dutchman's Creek:

That's CaptK's 23D with the blue bimini, and my 19 rafted up next to his (I'm in the blue shirt).

On the other side of my boat is Jeff Tsai's 19.
