Title: New Legacy owner in Canada
Post by: Gabcansailor on May 19, 2023, 12:10:09 PM
Hi, I just towed my new to me Legacy home yesterday. I'm hoping to have time to launch it in the following weeks. The boat is a very clean 2008 that will replace my 1973 siren 17. I wanted a boat in better shape and I found this one for sale. The added stability should also be an upgrade since we are expecting our first child and not being worried about a capsize will probably mean that we will use the boat more often.

Welcome Gabby!
I was unaware that Siren 17s capsized all that often.  But think here's the thing, you will love the quality the Hutchins build into the boats they manufacture.  My nearly 40 year old 19 gets compliments all the time. Believe me, its the original care and quality they build in.
Enjoy your wind ride.

My siren really wasn't that bad but my girlfriend is very worried about a capsize and we have gusty winds where we sail. Also the keel needs to be locked in the down position to have any effect in a knockdown so even though the draft is only 6" inches with the keel up you really need over 4' of water to sail safely.
