I bought a 2020 Legacy recently, stepping down from a Precision 21. The P-21 is a great boat, but we wanted to get something smaller we could keep in the driveway and use more. So far I like the Legacy, but was thinking about a few mods. One thing I have noticed is the tendency of the Legacy to heel sharply in gusts compared to the P-21. Like, heeling so that my daughter screams and I wonder about the alligators in our local lakes (North Central Florida). A quick fisherman's reef does the trick, but I thought a Cunningham for gusty days might help. Seems like a fairly simply thing to construct but I was wondering if anyone out there has done this and if there is a kit for small boats that works well. Thanks, Zach
Hi Zach. You will love the Legacy. Kinda crazy but I also switched from a p21 to A Legacy. I wanted a smaller boat. I have owned mine for over 10 years now. I live in Venice Florida and sail on the Gulf of Mexico. This little boat is very capable and I have had her out in some very windy and choppy conditions. She can handle more than I can. Over the years I have added a few modifications.
1 adjustable motor Mount. I use a long shaft Torqueedo motor and it was dragging with the standard mount
2 Teak grab rails
3 Boom Vang. Better sail shape as the Boom won?t lift as much
4 Rudder craft Tiller and Rudder. Huge difference in pointing ability and the boat not rounding up as Quickly
5 Furler for the Jib. Great addition which also helps with making it easy to reduce sail size and makes it much safer option then the Hank on Jib
The performance of my Legacy has improved tremendously with all the mods.

Thanks Roy, I was also thinking about a boom vang, get rid of the topping lift and put in something to get mechanical advantage on the outhaul. What boom vang did you get? Right now we are just sailing in lakes around Gainesville, but I plan to take it out in the Gulf around Cedar Key soon.
Hi Zach .
It is manufactured by Ronstan.
Hi Roy, where did you get the roller furling system? I was thinking about constructing my own but if there is a good kit out there for small boats I'd just assume go with that.
thanks
Zach
Hi Zach
I bought a CDI FF1 flexible furler. I had it installed by Masthead Sails near Clearwater Florida. They also converted my hank on Jib so it could be furled.
