Received a text last night from Christopher about meeting up for lunch. He and his wife are in NC and went out of their way to visit us. Okay, he wanted to see what Oriental is all about and we just happen to live here. We met at the Bean across from the harbor and after coffee Joanie joined us for lunch at Brantleys. Thanks for lunch Chris! Then we drove to our lot and gave them a tour of the grounds and dock. ????
It was great seeing him again and meeting his wife. We discussed attending the Florida 120 in 2022? I do hope that happens. Next year is too soon as we will most likely still be building the house and all the interior boat cushions are still in IL.

The last time I was on the Carolina(s) coast was in 1967 as a guest of the U. S. Government, first at Parris Island, then in Jacksonville at Camp Lejeune. I think I need to go back and see if I like it better this time.;)
However, I will need to have you make sure Bob23 is not in the area at the time, he is still trying to get that $5K extortion from me.
Last I heard, someone stuck a hat on Bob with a pbr hanging from stick on the bill. Bob was last seen chasing that pbr down a short dock.
Even boatless now I can't help looking in from time to time. Brackish, I also got to share the accommodations at Paris Island and Camp Lejeune, in '66. At least now you would be able to swat the sand those P,I. sand fleas. But then again you might just briefly hesitate.

Well Semper Fi! I was at Parris Island Jan. through February of 67, so depending on your time we could have just passed each other.
A couple of years ago, something came up on the internet that prompted me to do a search for my Drill Instructors. Found one of them and we had a nice email chat. Told me the Senior DI had passed away and he lost contact with the other duty DI. Brought back some memories.
Yes, Semper Fi! I arrived arrived in March, '66. A little comedy, although it did't feel that way at the time, I came to P.I. in really good shape after playing football through high school and that year as a freshman at a state college. I was pretty pleased to be made a squad leader but that only lasted until it came to marching. I just couldn't lead my outside column in a strait line. But then I surely have meandered quite a lot in the years since then.
Back some years Marine recruiting had a program to bring high school counselors on a trip to Parris lsland. I turned down the offer but now wished I hadn't.
