Title: Overall Height CP 27 for Transport
Post by: Deadrise on September 14, 2021, 10:13:00 PM
Hello all,

I'm looking into having a CP-27 shipped overland, what is the overall height with the mast down?

Thank you,
John

Obviously it will depend on the trailer, but my 27' is slightly taller than a 15 foot U-Haul truck and I believe that the listed clearance of the truck is around 12 feet.  I've attached a picture, if that helps.

The pro haulers that I've seen will often transport the mast low on the trailer beside the boat, not atop the bow and stern rails as shown on this picture. Presumably this is to keep the overall height of the rig as low as possible.

Off the highways, minimum bridge clearance is suppose to be 14', but some don't comply. I've seen riggers drive a proposed route and measure if it was going to close. Beat the alternative. If the U-Haul is 12', I'd want the mast to be lower, just to be safe.

Based on this scale drawing of the 27, using the 3.5' draft as a reference, the overall height (mast off) appears to be about 10.5', with the bow pulpit being the highest point.
