Title: Snubb Air Winches By Harken
Post by: gmerrill on June 02, 2021, 07:36:34 PM
I often have trouble pulling in my jib sheet tight on tacks and with 2 back surgeries I not looking for a third.
Gerry told me to look at the above mentioned winches by Harken. There's room for them to be installed.  Gerry had a
concern about the extra pressure it might create and where would you cleat it off.  These were concerns of his
but not saying it wouldn't work and work well.  Anyone with any experience with this and any thoughts.

My Precision 21 had been modified by the PO and had 2 pulleys at the clew (one for each side).  The Sheet started at the cleat, ran up through the pulley and down to the jib track roller and then to the cleat.  This effectively decreased the effort needed to set the jib.  This might be a simpler method than adding winches.  I will see if I had any pics of the setup.  Sail on,  Al
