New CP16 owner here.
What is the main sail tack "corner" supposed to look like?

Looks like sail not to top of mast.....................................should only be 5 or 6 inch's ........nies

Yes, gooseneck should be just below the slide gate and locked down with a fixed line or cunningham rig so the luff is tensioned by the halyard.  The luff clew should be attached to a hook or pin at the front of the boom so that the foot of the sail can be tensioned at the leech at the end of the boom.  Not a real close up but pic of how it should look under sail.  notice the davis stop under the boom to keep it up when you drop the sail and the line under to let the halyard tension it.  And go to this site, look at the gooseneck hardware, you need a small tack bracket to add to your gooseneck slide

Found the 'davis stop' or something that sure looks like it in the box of goodies that came with the boat.

Jarhead -- BEST boat for a guy who has wanted to get into sailing for the past 5 years.
Day on the water this past Saturday with the wife was absolultey wonderful
We averaged maybe 1 kph, there was hardly any wind, but we learned a lot about the boat
Next outing we are going to catch some WIND
