Folks,
I hope not to trod on any toes, especially with my displacement, and Bob can still collect the reservation deposits, but BBB 14 is approaching, COVID or not.
The weekend of August 3 has a full moon (sturgeon moon) and it looks like I do not have to work. I do have to work the following weekend.
What say ye?
I say we go for it! My 23 has a built in social distancing feature- it's slower than molasses in winter! And let's extend this to 3 days, starting on Thursday!
Bob23
Make it so! ....and don't forget to get a shirt! ;)

The dark shirt logo has been adjusted, making the wheel a bit lighter.
The shirts are ready to be purchased at your leisure.
There are two logo designs, one for dark shirts and one for light colored shirts.
These are on my Daughter's Redbubble site. She makes a couple of bucks per shirt for her design work.

I am the new owner of a pc14 here in Surf City,
Can anyone fill me in on the details for the BBB?
Hey Roger,
We usually base ourselves at Southwinds marina in Forked River. Friday night is usually at Captains Inn or Jerry Harrison's or one of yhe nearby eateries. Sat night is an overnighter anchored in Tices Shoals.
Most have Compacs. Eclipse, 23, 25. I drove my PC down one year for a renaming ceremony.
If they do not have a Compac now, seems like there was one in recent past. But we do allow others. So, some eating, more drinking, weather dependent good sailing, lots of shooting the bull ....
It s a great time. We have a few that drive down from NY and PA.
I usually sail down with wife from Kettle Creek, On the Thursday before. Ramp at Southwinds is easy, and marina very friendly.
Hope to see you there. Do you keep you PC on a trailer or do you have a slip?
Regards,
Brian
Congratulations, Roger, sounds like you made the trip back from Fort Worth successfully. The BBB guys will set you straight, but watch out for hidden fees! ;D
I keep it on a trailer but will moor it at the end of my street for a few days at a time if the weather is good.
On another note Compac said if I want to raise the boat off of the trailer a few inches for maintenance I should put the jack
under the keel on the metal portion. Does this sound legit?
That's where I would jack it, the CB trunk flange. A softer pad of some sort to protect the paint and gelcoat. And, control the tilt of course. ;)
So just to be clear, and it doesn't take much to confuse me lately, since Aug. 3 is a Monday what dates are we considering?
Allen,
Yes. August 3 is a Monday. I thought you lucky retired people only had Saturdays on your calendar.
So Bob is promoting starting on Thursday, July 30th.
All the best,
Brian
Thanks Brian,
Let me check my schedule...... okay. I'm good
-Allen
Unfortunately a friend of mine scheduled his wedding for that Sunday... how dare he schedule it during The Bash! Potential for cancellation but TBD. Otherwise will try to make it for the Thursday through Saturday portions this year. I?m sure my dad and brother will be on-board as well!
Freedom will be leaving Great Bay for her new home in Waretown next Tuesday as we sail her up - a shout-out to Ryan for answering all of my dad?s endless questions!
Hopefully the motor/sail up north was an epic adventure for you guys! Your dad seems to have it figured out.
It was a great day, thanks Ryan - some morning fog that burned off after a little bit with with a fair northeast wind. Safe and soundly docked!
Well, I bet you guys thought I disappeared or fell off the edge of the planet but, au contraire! I'm live and well and Koinonia is floating on her lines once again.
So now that that first weekend in August is approaching, let's pick this ball up and kick it around again. I'll make some calls about outside seating at the restaurant that we usually go to; it's not called Latitudes anymore...I forget the new name. Generally the same deal as last year- eat, drink, lie, sail, have fun....repeat!
Please drop in with your input and I'll need to get a list together of all those who would once again risk their reputations joining this crew of gnarly wharf rats!
Cheers!
Bob23
Thanks Bob for doing the heavy lifting. The new latitudes looks good.
I believe Latitudes is now Joey Harrison's River House. And you probably thought I dropped off the edge (the ocean only looks flat, so they tell me).
I was sitting on my front lawn under the Japanese Maple watching the clouds scoot by and looking at Pegasus in the driveway and thinking, "Wonder what's doing with this year's BBB?" Upon closer examination I guess I'd better buy stock in 3M. Goin' to need a LOT of sandpaper!
Hope I can make it at least for dinner in Forked River. I've marked my calendar.
Cheers,
Marty K.

Officially on the calendar. My friend had to cancel the wedding due to all that?s going on, so sailing and The Bash it is! Freedom will be there. Will confirm with my dad and brother as well.
New Latitudes....The Waterfront (http://thewaterfrontnj.com/)
They did a bit of remodeling as well. Lesa and I were there for Father's Day, very nice.
It is now being run by Sweet Jenny's, a local favorite for years.
Great! So as Sherlock Holmes would say: "The game's afoot!" I'll stop there tomorrow...check out the drinks first hand!
cheers! Bob23
So let's get a roster together, shall we?
From the northern extremes of Barnegat Bay,
Ellen and Brian
Hey Folks,
At this point I the best I can do is submit an unsure due to Covid restrictions. It seems that I may have to quarantine for 3 months once I'm in NJ and NY may not let me back in if they find out who I have been associating with? Hmm. Not going back to NY might not be to bad. ;) . Just having some fun with all this. Put me down for a maybe.
-Allen
So...so far we have:
Me and the admiral
Brian and Ellen
Allen and Suzy! definite maybe, my eye! Be there or be square!
Lesa and I should be there.
I'm a probable for weekend activities with the girls and a maybe for Friday night (me alone)
Called Southwinds today, and left a voice mail. Ellen and myself will be sailing down on Friday, July 31, and plan to bring Terrapin back home on Monday.
We discussed delaying it until September, when things may be a bit more open, but I am stubborn by nature.
We also have a lot a unused vacation, so if September makes more sense, we can do it again then.
Regards,
Brian
To all::
This all sounds good. I know we discussed starting on Thursday but that was before this damn virus messed things up. I can also show up Friday anytime and I'll make my slip rez tomorrow...if I remember, that is!!
Friday night dinner/drinks at the Waterfront- outside I suppose. This should be another epic Barnegat Bay Bash!!
Impromptu run-in/regatta with Bob23 out there today - Captain Nick said ?is that Bob23 over there!?? And sure enough it was! Freedom was ripping in that wind today as was Bob23... Bob23 also might have witnessed our poor attempt of wing on wing when heading back north. As of right now we are a TBD for the bash pending guidelines etc.
Yes, I thought that was you and as far as the wing on wing- I see nothing. I tell nothing. Twas some fine wind out there, eh? Wing on wing without a whisper pole is always a hairy affair. Sorry if I cut you off near Barnegat, I was trying for room to come about before running out of water!
I'm keeping an eye on the weather for the weekend...looking forward to whatever we end up doing at this years Bash. While every other event known to man has been cancelled, the Bash lives on! Forward fellow Bashers...forward!!
Bob23
UPDATE:
So our son is coming to visit this weekend, haven't seen him since the whole Covid has started. Also my Niece is having her 'Sweet 16' party on Saturday.
That all said our involvement in said Bash festivities are questionable at best.
Kevin & Lesa
Hey Folks,
As much as I really need a BBB fix it has become apparent that we are not going to be able to make the trip this year of the Covid. I'll miss you all but we will certainly raise a glass for you all from here in Upstate NY.
-Allen
Sorry to hear the Kev and Lesa, Allen and Suzy will not be attending. Allen can you just send your anchor down????
Bob23
Bob,
I'll FedEx it down today but you have to promise not to get any water sports on it. 8)
So the Captain's Inn Tiki Bar is closed for a couple of days to do a deep cleaning. Someone had the Covid there. You guys just might want to skip dinner and just sail. IMHO ;)
Sounds like a rescheduling is needed. We just gave up our NY Jets season tickets after 39 years, so more theme to sail in the fall!
Weather on Friday not promising. Sad to say, but looks like we will be staying north of the Seaside bridge. The final straw came when our beagle watcher is no longer available.
Hope we can meet soon.
As the unofficial grand poobah of the Bash, I have consulted with the appropriate powers that be, the PBR supply chain official, the Gosslings Black Seal Rum Dark and Stormy commission and a few gnarly wharf rats here at the forum and we've arrived at the unanimous decision to postpone the bash until later in the summer or early fall. Allen- I'll keep your anchor safe in a hermetically sealed bullet proof glass vault. Brian- we'll share a Guinness or two soon. Gerard: I do hope in the near future our paths will cross again while we're under sail. And to our own Marty aka Mr. Volvo- this should give you some time to spruce up Pegasus and add the appropriate rigging parts. And to Kev and Lesa- this should give you time to buy a real sailboat! To Larry and Lexi and their wonderful daughters- we'll catch you on the water sometime! Perhaps an impromptu bashy like lunch may be in order.
Cheers!
Bob23
(ps: I'll still be out there on Friday and/or Saturday sailing somewhere- perhaps to Bakers Water Street Grill for a Tito's and tonic!!
Doggone it, Bob !! "Shag", the original Horizon Cat and I were halfway there when you cancelled. Now we have to slink back to the Chesapeake with tail betwixt legs, waiting for the next Bash. Just kidding, but sorry to hear the supreme convergence of Compaconauts has succumbed to pandemical issues.
Pedro: Is that her??? Very nice. Too nice a boat for a curmudgeon like you!!
Stay tuned for the Bash, rescheduled.
Bob23
Hey! I might be able to make it at the new and improved date!
Picking up where we left off, mates.
Is there any interest in resurrecting the Bash for the endish of September, or somewhere thereabouts? Say, 25th through the 27th? What say ye merry Bashers?
Bob23
We'll be around if you want to hit up The Waterfront for dinner and adult beverages.
Just to add, we will be attending this at the Waterfront.
ClutchDog is bringing their always entertaining, energetic, and edgy rock and roll show to The Waterfront in Forked River.
Mark it down on your calendars Saturday, September 12th from 6 to 10

This was the place to be!! Amidst a year of cancelled events, let it be known throughout the land that the Barnegat Bay Bash #14 did in fact take place! So take that you covid jerk! Think you could thwart our plans? Think again!!
Even though it wasn't on the water, there indeed was a floatable device which could be construed as a boat. Good times, good beer, good tequila! Thanks Kev for hosting the 14th consecutive Bash!! Now... about next year, who's in??
Cheers me mates!!
