Hi,
I have a new to me 1981 Compac 16. I'm just learning to sail (completing ASA courses as I write this). Does anyone have a document/diagram of how to assemble the rig? Or would someone be willing to send me some close up pics of theirs the next time they go out? I've gotten as far as figuring out how the boom fits in the channel on the mast. :) Topping lift, backstay (is there one?), traveler, attaching the jib (a hank on I assume) is all still a mystery to me. Any help (especially pictures) appreciated! Thanks much!
I don't have photos, but I did find a link with a couple of good shots that show how it should look.

Rusty, Call Gerry Hutchins and buy a manual for the 16. It's inexpensive, and can be the basis for your log book on your new boat.

Rusty, besides the manual which is a good thing to have, consider this book. It was written with a Compac 16 in mind. Lots of good information including rigging diagrams.

Congrats on the boat. Got one almost 40 years ago, and long with a how to sail book, we sailed her for 10 years before selling her. Got another 3 years ago. Will never part with her, too simple, too easy, too affordable, and TOO many fun folks on this forum.

I have a CP16 from 1981 (hull #1330). As I embarked on fixing my project boat I found many books, mags, and articles helpful. The suggestions above were essential. May I add Small Craft Advisor, issue #70. I have a few articles I could copy and send you. Most importantly is to search topics in this forum.

Thanks for the help all. I'll go through the listings and suggestions. I appreciate everyone's time.
I have also ordered the manual - I'd like to have it just for "completeness" and it wasn't expensive anyway.
