So I've got this '78 CP16 and I'm trying to resolve my gas tank situation. The Honda tank I have sits neatly down in the lazarette between the scupper tubes almost like it was made to go there. However I haven't figured out a good way to route the fuel line. The tank doesn't stay in the boat when it's not on the water, so I'm not particularly worried about ventilation. Right now I just cock the lazarette cover to one side, but that's not very practical because it's kind of in the way and if it gets pushed back to the other side it'll pinch and possibly cut the fuel line. Any other kind of notch or cutout would seem to leave the door open for water to get into the cabin. I was thinking about a deck plate installed in the lazarette cover, but I'm not sure about that. Any other ideas?
Hi I have a '78 CP 16 also.My fuel tank sits between the scuppers like yours.I have a deck plate that is installed in the lazarette cover to one side like your talking about. It was like that when I got the boat,and It works great. That's my two cents. Peaceful sailing,Geoff

You could use a screw out 4inch plate. It wouldn't be in the way of anybody sitting or leaning there. Buy a spare plate, drill a hole in it and run the fuel line through it and seal with 3M 4200. Then you can remove the plate with the hose and tank when you put the boat away. Put the other plate without the hole in it in the frame for the plate and it will keep out the weather when you are not sailing.

Our CP16 came outfitted pretty well, it has a flip open cover about 2 inches in diameter in this location which I believe even says "Fuel" on it. Works perfect for routing the fuel line up and is spring loaded and snaps closed. No idea where it came from but very handy.
Good ideas - I hadn't thought about putting it on the transom instead of the lazarette cover. Thanks.
