Title: Topping Lift attachment point.
Post by: geeman on August 24, 2019, 02:55:57 PM
I want to install a topping lift but the truck on top of my mast does not have a fitting for this that I can see.  There are two small screw holes on top where I figured someone likely mounted a windex, but don't really know.  Do the masts normally have a butterfly or something similar on top for this purpose, or do I need to make one?

I just drilled a hole through the truck between & above the halyard sheaves & put a shackle through it.

Yep.  That'll work and might well be what I'll do.  Didn't know if there was a bolt on solution out there from Com-Pac or a 3rd party.  I just unstepped the mast and looked at it again.  There is already a hole for masthead lighting wires to run though and the two small screw holes on top of the truck are likely for that fixture.

You may find a through hole in your mast head casting. An eye bolt will provide a secure point for the topping lift. Hope the picture passes the size limit!

I passed the topping lift line thru a hole in the mast top fitting and tied a stopper knot works for me
