OK folks, I understand the nonslip originally was gel coat. I have a new to me 23 where the cream color is worn out pretty much deck-wide and really needs to be freshened up. I want it to look as original as possible, be highly functional and be long lasting. My options are:
1. Plain old Interlux topside, I understand there's a cream that matches nicely.
2. Add Intergrip or other commercial additive to the above.
3. Kiwi-grip. It looks like it's thick and would fill in the original texture. I'm not sure that's gonna keep me as original as possible. I'm sure it would be functional.
I think my plan for prep will be to (remove most fittings and) scrub it with Ajax or Comet and a stiff brush to rough it up since sanding it would be an act of futility. I also have bronze wool that may work well to get in the cracks.
I'm leaving the cockpit alone. It's all white original gelcoat and looks good.
Any other thoughts? I'm sure someone has refinished theirs and has some experience with the longevity of the coating.
