Wow, great pics and reading. I was a member at Lake Geneva YC for a couple of years before I moved from Crystal Lake, IL to Florida. Didn't race but trailer sailed the Eclipse from the Club. Such great people, they made us feel very welcome. Something about midwest people and sailors in particular, always friendly. The highlight was, of course, meeting Buddy.
I have spent the last 3 summers here in SW FL and am thinking of becoming a snowbird. Very interested in the southern Wisconsin area for sailing. Allegiant Air is flying from Punta Gorda to Appleton, Milwaukee, and Rockford. So my sailing choices (with my Eclipse) would be Lake Winnebago, Lake Geneva, Lake Mendota, Lake Michigan, and all the other little ones in Wisconsin. Lake Geneva (and Geneva Lake) is a zoo in the summer, are any of the others a little less busy?
Depending on the health of my ailing parents I may come up that way this summer. How accessible is Lake Winnebago to non residents? I can't afford to live on the water there or at Lake Geneva. Williams Bay would be an option.
Thanks for any input. I know the area but never explored any of the other lakes. Al sails on Pistakee. Brave man.
