Title: Admiral Vicki's Condition
Post by: Tim Gardner on January 11, 2019, 07:03:47 AM
To all my CPYOA Shipmates,

Vicki underwent back surgery to correct damage and alleviate pain resulting from the shooting at Bridgewater Plaza outside her Chamber of Commerce office in 2015 on Wednesday.   Vicki was much better yesterday. She was able to swing her legs over the side of the bed, put on her brace, and walk to the bathroom using her walker, and return.  But not without  pain.  However, she wasn't even able to get out of bed without my help last week, so its an improvement.

We are hoping for fair winds during her short (6 weeks), and longer term (6mo) and a full recovery and a return to the challenging sailing we were accustomed to prior to the incident three yrs ago (After all she sails with me, challenge enough).

So glad to hear that Vicki is mobile and the long term prognosis is promising.  Baby steps but steps just the same.

Great news!  It'll still be a long road, but hang in there.

Surgery is never fun nor easy, but sounds like things went well.

Here's wishing for a speedy and full recovery.

Tim,
While I am not a church goer I believe in the power of prayer and will be sending mine for Viki's steady and full recovery.

Oh and Tim, thanks again for your help with the mold remediation effort.  I would certainly offer you some beach time for Vicki's recovery but I'm fairly sure the doctors and physical therapist would not approve as long as the access is an extension ladder.:)  Maybe later.

Tim, glad to hear that healing progress is being made. Make sure that lovely wife of yours is in fine shape for a future after- party party and burn barre,l here in the backwaters of the Chesapeake. Hugs from Rebecca and Pedro!

Hey Tim and Vicki, we are sending hugs, prayers and affirmations of full recovery! On a lighter note, Vicki you will need that full recovery if hanging around any of us so I am certain of it occurring.

Last time we saw you guys was at CBMWG 2017, where Becky and Pedro graciously hosted the party after the party and the bubba barrel bonfire! You all had just returned from a trip to lower latitudes, and we know circumstances may be different this time, but we are hoping that the loose easy feeling will return, as might you, to those "backwaters" of the bay.

Luv ya,
Rick and Susan

We're so glad she's on the mends, Tim. Not that we expected anything different from her! Of course our thoughts and prayers are for her and you! Looking forward to seeing you both in person this year, somehow!!

Well, Here's an update!

The Admiral has returned to port and is in full command once again.

From her Stand-me-up reclining crows nest, the commands are issuing forth to your humble cabin boy like a 1/32nd note drum roll announcing Captain's Mast.

She, while weakened physically by the surgery, is capable of maneuvering the ship's ladders, inspecting the heads, and getting in and out of her rack.  Glad to have back aboard.

Thanks for all your positive thoughts and prayers.

Tim,

I saw the several photos in the recent Smith Mountain Lake magazine.  I hope Vicki will return to her full activity soon.  The Lake has certainly benefited from her hard work, and yours. You both are in my prayers.

I prayed for Vicki yesterday not knowing either of you.  Out of curiosity (because I don't have TV), I googled the event today and was horrified at the footage.  I hope and pray for a full recovery for you both.

Sorry a little late to the party but I am not on here as much these days.

I hope that she has a full and speedy recovery!
