Title: Just got my new Sunday Cat and am new to the list. Greetings All
Post by: mikehennessy on December 24, 2018, 09:11:30 AM
The Sunday Cat was delivered to G. Winter's marina this past week.

I plan to trailer sail the boat in NJ and NY as I have places near Saratoga Lake (NY) and Union Lake (NJ).  Anyone who can share good sailing locations where I can ramp launch will be appreciated.

Any advice about the new boat?  I have mostly sailed Thistles and Flying Scots in the past.

Congratulations on the Sunday Cat. We keep our Sun Cat on a mooring at the Saratoga Lake Sailing Club. We launch at the beginning of the season and retrieve at the end using the NYS boat ramp at the North end (the Club's ramp is too shallow.) The hinged mast makes it easy to motor under the 9P bridge to the main lake. Maybe we can meet up. By the way, we have Thistle and FS racing fleets at the club, probably the most popular boats there. Hi Dan,

We have probably seen each other.  I raced at SLSC the past two years with Swannie.  On the waiting list for membership.

Thanks for advice on where to launch.  Dave Hudson reports that the hoist is not large enough for the Sunday Cat.

Regards,
Mike

Ah, then you know all about it. Yea, the crane is out of the question for our boats. We used to use the club ramp and it was a PIA. We were relieved to realize how much easier it is motor to and from the State ramp. See you in the Spring! We probably do know each other by sight, ask around for Dan and Margaret.

Hi Mike and welcome! Would that be Union Lake in Millville?

Yes - Union Lake in Millville.  There is a public ramp on one side (and a sailing club on the other).

Congrats  on the Sunday Cat Mike!
Saratoga Lake is our choice for sailing our Eclipse.  We trailer it also but may consider renting a slip at South Shore Marina in the future.  We are still considering joining the club but it is an hour drive from home.  There is another gent on the forum that sails a 16 on the lake also.  I have even seen a 23 docked at the Mariana a few years back.  Best of luck with your Sunday Cat and we will bee looking for you on the lake.

Mostly from South Shore Marina. They have a nice setup and unlike the State Ramp you can step the mast on the hard.
