So...if Rick can initiate the CBMWG and Home Depot can start selling Christmas stuff before Autumn even began, guess it's time to discuss the next Barnegat Bay Mid Winter Gathering! We've been doing this for so long that I've lost count! I'm tossing around mid January next year...location to be announced and/or decided upon.
We've been at so many different places...and some have even allowed us back!! I was thinking about the Lambertville Inn again...but we're getting a head start so other ideas are always invited!!
Hopefully Kev will grace us again with his video expertise, Allen can bring his jeweler's rouge anchor so we can all sign it celebrating his retirement and even my Admiral has shown up at these epic events, defeating the myth that she doesn't exist!!
So fellow wharf rats, what say ye?? Will you throw your lot in with the rest of these questionable characters??
Bob23...for the cause!!!
AYE!
Well, as harmful as it is to my reputation to be seen in the company of such a motley crew of unrepentant, rag-bagging bilge rats, a trip to Lambertville sounds like a potential go!!
Great...no one seems smart enough to not be here so far. Ryan will undoubtedly have some tales to tell of voyaging aboard his 25, which is a beautiful boat. And Pedro- you'll be in good company!! Hahaha...looking forward to a full house. I'll pre- arrange bail!!
Lambertville Inn sounds great!
2019 shall hold tall tales of grand ocean sailing to Cape May and a return voyage to BBB2019! If we get booted before our meals arrive, which is most likely, there's a small BBQ shack around the corner that'll serve the likes of us. Well perhaps everyone but Bob.
Hmmm....that might be more our speed!!! Many MWG's ago, we met at the Lambertville Inn and it was quite nice, even for an old curmudgeon like me!!
Continuing on with the epic, unequaled and much bally-hoo'ed BBMWG # who knows...I'd like to propose January 19th in the Year of our Lord Two Thousand and Nineteen. Lambertvile Station is the correct name of the place we'll attack and here's a question: Lunch or dinner? The Admiral reminded me that last time we descended upon the poor innocent town, it was lunch, drinks and lies..then a walk about town.
What say ye drunken wharf rats?!
Not too sure about the 19th.....26th looks good.
No worries...we're getting a head start so we can figure out dates that will work for everyone! And as to the rumors that Jimmy Buffet may be attending, I can neither deny nor confirm that! Guess we'll just have to wait and see!!
Bob23...for the cause...'cause I can!!
Let's keep this going, lads and lassies! How does 1/26/2019 sound?
Sounds good to me.
Bob, Vicki will be undergoing spine surgery on Jan 9th to repair damage caused by her gunshot wound that was over looked at the time due to tissue swelling. As a result, I will be revisiting the role of Mr. Wonderful, Home Nurse! So, I won't be attending the BBMWG. We are hoping this will relieve her of back pain she has been enduring for the three intervening years, and allow her to return to a more active sailing life.
Here's my CC# to pay for several rounds. ngrd dltj jsqt othv (decode this using your magic decoder ring)
TG
Decoded....thanks. That wasn't very hard. I'll be praying for both you and her during that time. It's always so nice to see you both. Well, one of you anyway!!
Definate maybe for January 26. I assume the NY Jets post-season play may be happening this year/decade.
Ok Folks,
We are officially retired and living the good life as of last Friday. With that being said, pick a date, any date, and we will arrange our busy schedule to make it happen. It is going to be a challenge to figure out this retirement thingy...like, what are we going to do tomorrow? Well there is always the honey dew list.
Lambertville sounds great. We had a blast last time. Suzie is still healing from foot surgery but is doing well and making progress. (She is retired too).
Tim and Vicki,....are prayers are with you and the only plans we have considered so far is to do a trip to SML in the summer. Ya never know....the only thing keeping us in New York State is our grandkids. lol
Looking forward to seeing you all and to actually doing some sailing this year.
-Allen
I'm a maybe, possibly on Jan 26, and have marked the date.
Congrat's Allen!
Tim, I've not met you, but I'll say a prayer anyway.
Congratulations Allen!
Wow, you'll have so much time to polish that anchor of yours. Sounds like a side business could develop- can I send you mine next?
The going date so far is January 26th so if we can stick with that, it'll be easier for all to schedule. The Admiral are visiting the Lambertville area today and I want to check out a new restaurant: "The Inn of the Hawke". I'll let you all know how it is; another option.
More later, mates!!
Bob23
Looking good for Jan 26. Wife Admiral is having surgery on the 31st, so no risk of FEMA calling her in to work. May look for a local B&B, as rum will be flowing.
Fantastic! Both Inn of the Hawke and Lambertville Station have accommodations of some sort.
OOOH! I forgot, I might be down in Florida the end of Jan.(date still undetermined)
Ahoy all!!
Restarting this thread, I hereby nominate January 26th as THE date. (Can't please everyone) and too much time has gone by so weigh in, me hearties will you? The 2 nominations for location are within minutes of each other and I can make reservations at each place. So before you all get hung over in a few days, post here if you're coming so I can get a headcount. If you can't make it, please email me a note from your doctor or face serious penalties!
Tim, our prayers will be for you and Vicki on the 9th.
For the cause...Bob23
Aye!
Suzie and I are in.
Thanks Bob.
Okay we are in, not going to FLA until February. As for location I'd go with cheaper and the one more willing to accept us rowdy sailors. ;)
Ellen and I are in, will stay the night.
We will probably arrive in afternoon, as admiral says she intends to shop that day in New Hope. There is an Irish/vikng shop that has a wooden dragon head that woul look great on Terrapin bow..,
Happy new year
Aha!! So the game is afoot!!
Bob,
We are making plans to come down on Friday and leave on Sunday so whatever time and venue is good for us.
-Allen
Perfect!!
The headcount, as it now stands:
Bob23 and the Admiral - 2
Kev and Lesa - 2
Pedro and Becky - 2
Allen and Suzie - 2
Mary and Barbara - 2 (Barbara may not be attending but Marty assures me if she can't he'll draft another unlikely victim)
Ryan - 1 (But why don't you drag your wife along so she can see firsthand the kind of wharf rats you hang out with)
Brian and Ellen - 2
Larry and Lexi - 2
TOTAL up to 16 and yes, I needed to use my toes to count!
Wow, this is like the grand meeting of the great minds of the East Coast Compac-o-nauts! If I've omitted anyone, please chime in here. Today I'll be making dinner reservations for the 26th and I'll post back here soon with a confirmation.
Great update, and organization. Makes me wonder what is happening to Bob lately...
I just booked a room for Ellen and myself at the Lambertville Station Inn. A bit pricey, but the BBBMG does not happen everyday. We plan to do some exploring on Saturday (translate as "Shopping" without really buying anything. I do not understand it, but it keeps Ellen happy.)
Looking forward to it.
Regrards,
Brian
We've been to Lambertville numerous times. Fantastic little cheese shop on North Union Street and a large antique place just down the street.
What is happening to Bob you ask? Too much work or as Van Morrison might say "All work and no play makes Bob a dull chap".
The admiral can tolerate sailing but a group of wharf rats talking about sailing isn't on her top 100 list. Plus we'd have to get the grandparents to watch the little one which would just lengthen my servitude to them. Had the displeasure of getting their fake Christmas back into the attic yesterday afternoon.
Hahaha...I totally understand! Sounds like her and my Admiral might be related!!
I spoke with the owner of Inn of the Hawk today and we're tentatively booked there but at 2 separate tables in the same room.
I called Lambertville Station today...they'll call me back tomorrow and I'll see what they have. That is all, mates- carry on!
IMPORTANT UPDATE:
Ha, I knew that'd get your attention!!!
We are scheduled at the Lambertville Station at the Victoria Lounge at 5pm on January 26th, in the year of our Lord Two thousand and nineteen.
Looking forward to seeing everyone in a few weeks. This may prove to be the biggest, baddest MWG in the history of the human race! Thinking ahead, I've secured the service of a bail bondsman just in case. We got a great rate-quantity discount!!
Bob23...out
Thanks Bob,
See you then!
-Allen
See you there, or be square! Is there dockage at the Inn? Hey, we have heat on our boat!

What!!!!! You guys going up by boat? If so pack plenty of antifreeze, some for the boat as well!
Update mates!!
154 days until summer but only 8 days until the infamous Barnegat Bay Mid Winter Gathering #?. We should be arriving to the Lambertville area sometime in the early afternoon to walk around, seeking ways to disperse our great fortunes! Can't wait to see everyone- this may prove to be the biggest, if not the baddest MWG of them all!!
Bob23
We may explore across river in New Hope. Probably stop in the Dubliner Pub for splicing the main brace at some point...looking forward to the raft up at Lambertville Station.
(Now in the right thread....)
Sorry, looks like I'm going to need to "bow out" again. Normally, this means my 'butt is in' (as in transom), but in this case it means I can't make it. Lexi is away in Florida, and the girls have 'Sister Social' events which means that I'm the taxi driver.
Larry.
Understand and you of course will be missed. If you send me your credit card # and offer to pick up the entire tab, then all will be forgotten and forgiven. Looking forward to the Barnegat Bay Bash where hopefully, no one will crash into your boat again!
Our best to you and your girls!!
Peter,
You can sail/motor up the Delaware to the Inn, but you'd better bring some C4 to clear the rapids.
Marty K.
P.S. Bob - Looks like I'll be solo this year.
We will miss Barbara, Marty but we'll do our best to keep you in line. There is an elevator that services the Victorian Lounge- I made sure of it!
Ok me hearties! The long awaited for BBBMWG? is upon us! We'll be arriving Lambertville area around 3 ish so I'll send a text or two out when we arrive. Weather looks just fine and I'm sure all the usual suspects will be rare form! See y'all there!!
Bob23...for the cause!!
Coarse is plotted.
Sails set!
BBMWG #? has come and gone and what a time! Thank you to everyone who risked their reputation being seen with this group of wharf rats of questionable character!
These gatherings are so fun because of each one of you who attends. It was so nice seeing Allen and Suzie, Brian and Ellen, Pedro and Becky, Marty and his son Michael, Kevin and Lesa (who we see on a regular basis because we all work together) and of course Ryan.
Food was great, service almost unequalled and no one yelled as us for getting loud!
As a nice side, Allen who recently retired was given the not-quite-golden anchor award to celebrate reaching this milestone! We're all hoping that anchor will shine at the next Barnegat Bay Bash, of which there was some discussion.
Cheers, maties and thank you! For me, it was a blast seeing you all! I hoist my morning tequila in your honor!!
Bob23..for the cause...'cause I still can!!
Ok, I have been told this before so just passing it on.....No pictures means it didn't happen!
Get that video up there Kev!

Did no one heed the sign?
Evidence, and possible start of a "wanted" poster...thanks Kev.
Ah....now that's better!
Hopefully the Inn doesn't use the photo as a training tool for employees....as in who to watch out for! The smiles say it all. A vicarious toast to ya!
by the way you are all invited to CLR 2019 set for the last week of june. transportation will not be a problem as bob says he will drive
Just seeing this...oh brother- does this beg for a caption or what??

So...why does this remind me of The Last Supper, brother Bob and the 12 disciples?!
One more picture and a video link.

This was taken right before we were all hauled off to jail!
Nice video...I really like this town!
Jail ???? I got caught out in the parking lot. Someone said I "stole" an old anchor. Go figure?
Thanks to all for a great time and to Kevin and Marty for the media.
-Allen & Suzie
Greetings from Maine! What a nice looking group.. and no one looks a day older than when Janet and I last joined you a few years ago.. best of luck with your plans for this summer's main event on BB. jt
Hello JT!! So good to hear from you...so keep an eye out here for Barnegat Bay Bash #13...why don't you join us!!
Hope all is well with you both. Do you still have your 23?
