Title: what a summer (?) Chesapeake area
Post by: ameysails on October 20, 2018, 09:38:16 PM
   We are looking for empathy.
Notwithstanding...we were bless'd not to be in the paths of  any force 3-5 weather system (although we did help friends/family in TX, NC, GA and FL).
But (yup there is THE word), the sailing season in the NE Chesapeake area was conditioned by
all those rain spin-offs, a few hot/humid days (no winds) then many raining days (rain, rain go away
come again some other day [not tomorrow though!]) So the rains reigned the areas here, we hope that the rains take up reins and ride away!
Well, that didn't happen, so swollen Lake Clarke was with flotsam/jetsam (floating lumber-junk!) flowing down the Susquehanna River (7+ knots), also on the upper Chesapeake.
Less than 7 days of sailing from May to October, makes for a sad CP 16 sailor and the mate!
Who is in charge of the weather next sailing season?
   Advice... do better please.!

Agreed!  more than one factor contributed to few days on the boat this season, but the weather was the big one! Still.......:)

Mas is all bundled up for the trip back to the mountains. This is the earliest we have brought her home, but she was feeling left out of the less than spectacular season and the few times we have gotten out we have taken Interlude. Her next task will be the boat I teach my grandson how to trick the wind into moving her.

Is it really soon to be November?
