Hi everyone. I'm pretty new to sailing, boat owning and this forum. I've had my Compac 16 out on the water just 4 times and already have a mile long list of things I want/need to do to the boat. I am not very computer savy but I have learned how to search topics (I think.Lol!). I've read most of what I could find on leaking scuppers, which I have, but my question is how do you get the old sealant out between the tube and the transom? Or the elbow and the cockpit floor, so that you can reseal it with 3M 5200? Is there some product that will dissolve the old sealant without damaging anything? Do you have to pick and scrape it out with something like an exacto knife? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Congrats!
As for 5200, it is a beast! I've done my share of scraping.
Found this article but have not used it.

Great article. Great information. I think I'll try to get as much as possible out with elbow grease, then when I get frustrated, go to the solvents. Thanks for the help!
