My portlight glass is getting foggy/brown looking in between the glass panels. I thought there was a thread about removing and replacing the glass, but I can't find it. My big question is how does one get the glass out of the frame? She is a 1987 model.
Thanks
There is a thread on page 8. Replacing port gaskets. Might give you some ideas. Good luck and good sailing. Jim
Port glass replacements:
I used what I believe was tinted Lexan. One hint make the insert just a bit smaller than the window frame it fits into to allow for expansion. On one port I made it too snug a fit and the Lexan warped once the sun got at it. 1/16" should be enough clearance not to warp once it heated up from the sun. The brass screws also easily brake so I replaced all the screws with stainless steal ones. Worked out fine.

Hey Jmiller:
Replaced all the port light glass and hatch plastic with glass. A local glass / window shop, Register's Glass in New Bern did all the work. I removed the portholes and dropped them off at the shop. I no longer have the receipts but it seemed pretty reasonable.
I found the posts on the blog.....

Hey Curt:
Just had the glass in our 27 replaced this summer. A shop "Register's Glass" about two blocks from our house cut and installed the new saftey glass. $25 for the small ones and $35 for the large ports. I bought the gaskets from Hutchins for $80.50. You can see what the glass looked like in one of my ports at

I appreciate the info. In those threads I don't see mention of how the glass comes out. Are there screws under the gasket to separate the frame?
