Title: Ok back to traveling with the rudder on.
Post by: gmerrill on February 16, 2018, 05:44:02 PM
I've been looking at this.  Would it compromise the head stock of the rudder assembly if you were to drill a hole that would line up with the existing bolt hole.  This hole would have to be in a place that would lift the rudder and you could put in  another bolt and nut that would keep the rudder up and off the ground.   This would keep the rudder from falling IMHO.  You would also have to drill a hole at the top of the rudder stock.

                                           -               It has to be this angle to lift the rudder up and align up with the rudder pin hole

Instead of another bolt and nut, you could just use a stainless steel hitch pin.  This would require a much smaller hole to be drilled.
