Getting ready to replace some of the lines on my CP27. The spec sheet lists both the main and jib halyards as 81' of 3/8" Sta Set. Any idea why such an odd length since the bitter end is just loose? Or why I shouldn't add a foot or two to be safe?
Also, no specs are listed for the topping lift. Would appreciate it if anyone can give me the length and diameter.
Hey HJ51: The main and jib halyards that are lead to the cockpit are longer than those that terminate at the gooseneck. I measured my old ones before I replaced them.
You might consider replacing the topping lift with a rigid vang or boom kicker. The topping lift seemed to be wearing out the luff of my already worn main leech, especially around the battens.

I stitched my new bitter end to my shackle end after I cut it off and pulled it through and cut to the exact length I wanted. I stitched because I was afraid of losing the end of the line and had no way to get to top of mast and wasn't climbing up it.

Wow, excellent point Charlie. I didn't even think about the fact those measurements might be only to the mast (and probably explains the 81' number). Definitely want them to lead to the cockpit so I will measure. Thanks.
