I am close to purchasing a 1978 Com-pac 16 for all the reasons you on this forum know quite well! However I have a question that I hope someone can help me with. I have a mooring here in Wellfleet on Cape Cod, and the mooring is tidal. At low tide the other sailboats (mainly centerboard Catboats) do fine; the water is often almost all gone at full low tide and the boats sitting either flat or slightly tilted. At all other tides there is plenty of water for the boats to bob correctly at the mooring.
SO my question is, does anyone have experience with mooring a 16b on a tidal mooring? Should I be ok? This is the last question I have prior to closing the deal and buying the boat
The nature of the seabed should also be of interest to you. If mud or mud/sand then your CP16 should be fine. Small rocks or bigger ones are definitely not fine. Also make sure that the mooring sinker itself is properly buried as at some point your pride and joy will almost certainly 'sit' on it which could leave an awkward hole!

Thanks Gordon. It is sand with oyster shells, mostly sand, so sounds like I should be ok. And the marina guys dig in the mooring sinker pretty deep from what I can tell.
