Hey Kevin,

I will not be in Philly, but I plan to spend four days at the Chicago Strictly Sail.

Hello TroyVB

I too will be at the All Sail Show at Navy Pier in Chicago, special deals at the Fairmont, by Grant Park. We stay here year after year and park the truck but use the free shuttle right to the pier and back Friday~Sunday.
Hint...Do the boats on Fridy [Thursday] and the vendors on Sat/Sun as the lines are long on Sat/Sun for the boats. And bring plenty of cash for though impulse items...LOL. Skip

I enjoy attending all the sailboat shows I can, so I'll certainly be at the Philly Strictly Sail show.  I'll be there tomorrow (Saturday) from about 10:30am till I'm pooped out.  I plan to attend some of the seminars - they have some pretty good ones, it seems.  Hope to see you there, Kevin & Gil!

We'll be hitting a few seminar's as well.
Myself, Bob23 and another fella who owns a Morgan.

Gil, sorry to miss you, and Kevin, kept an eye out for you but didn't see ya! Had a good time kicking the keels and attending the seminars.  Went to the one about getting your Captain's License (I've thrown that around a time or two), the one about Chartering (my wife and I plan to do some bareboat chartering in the BVI's this year or next), the one given by Bob Bitchin from Latitudes and Attitudes Magazine where he just talked about "fun stuff", and the one on weather forcasting.  They were all very informative & entertaining.  Didn't buy anything except a $4.50 hot dog! The lines were long to see the boats, but you have to expect that.  Talked to Gerry Hutchins for a bit - he was there with the new Legacy. He said it's become quite popular and getting great reviews.  All in all, a good day, and it certainly helped tide me over till the spring when we can put the boats back in the water!

Hi Ralph,

Yes, I am really sorry we couldn't go Saturday and hook up with you and Kevin. We had a great time on Sunday.  Didn't buy anything but a good lunch at the Reading Terminal.

Carole scoped out all the boats and decided she really liked a Hunter 33. All the comforts of home in a not so big package. (It is probably heresy to speak about this here) I could have "sailed away" with it for $ 106,000. At least she didn't really care for the $ 330,000 49 footer!

We checked out the new Com Pac 16' Legacy. We like our boat better. The foot well was ot deep and it would not be comfortable to sit in all day. They "padded" the Legacy out with foam flotation as Com Pac wants to get it NEMA certified. I'm fine with that but would be reluctant to give up the legroom. I also prefer my teak bowsprit and related hardware. Also, still no foiled rudder . . .just the old flat plate?

CDI had a roller furler for the main sail. Very neat thing but they only make one size currently for a much larger boat. Between that and the furling jib sailing would be almost automatic.
