Title: Com-Pac Raven
Post by: mgoller on January 07, 2007, 09:12:53 PM
The Raven was an attempt by Hutchins to update the ComPac 16 to a sporty racer cruiser.  All Black hull with a red stripe.  I was struck by just how far Hutchins went to update the old classic.

I couldn't believe the portholes gave way to a long slender black acrylic slit.
Here is some text from the recent classified.  I pulled the rest of the photos and stuck them in the Gallery under ComPac 16 section.
"This is a very clean Com-Pac Raven 16. There were only a few of these made.

The Raven, as compared to a standard 16, has high-tech sails with more sail area - larger roach on a bi-radial Dacron main plus a masthead bi-radial Mylar jib with roller furling. A stainless steel centerboard for improved windward performance. The Raven also has a larger, kick-up rudder, an alumininum bowsprit and a Z-Spar mast and boom with internal halyards."

I remember coming across some shots of this version of the CP 16, and forgot about it until Skip's post in the CP14 section.
Here's a link to the ad with a lot of photos.

Came across a Raven for sale here in New Jersey, got to see it first hand but sheeesh they want 8K for it. Another marina has a CP16 for only 1800.

Is it worth the high price I wonder?
