Post by: kickingbug1 on June 13, 2017, 01:39:24 PM
just a bit of a warning, Mattman has a secret weapon that he will unleash ( no not "excuse me while i whip this out") at the big CLR Cup race. now you all know what an accomplished seaman (spelling?) matt is. known far and wide for his maneuvers (he is a bassman after all). sailors just be prepared for anything. all im gonna say

hmm not sure there is a secret weapon, just a cruiser in desperate need of new sails which I won't order till winter.  I haven't even got her in the water yet let alone done vectors and polars...are there a few phrf points added for the drag of the bimini??? Now if you are talking about Rich...there is the guy to be watching for!!! And btw all attendees, I was out with Kick earlier in the season and to my surprise he reached up and tweaked the vang! It was an amazing sight, I was so proud...

The way I remember we will have to count that bimini will have to be added to your sail area. So sad to say you will loss a good number of points. Just my humble opinion but we'll leave it up to the race committee.

Congrats on the new ride, Matt!    Oh, and way to deflect the secret weapon talk over to Rich. Well done, sir. :)

Would this secret weapon of yours happen to have a PHRF rating for the infamous CLR Cup race calculations?
If you're not sure, I'll just use the cubed of the number of PBR's Bob23 can drink in one CLR race and raft up. Should be pretty close, eh?  :)

Sounds about right to me. Does an Adirondack Guideboat have a PHRF?

let's see i think that since the "engine" of a guidebook is the rower, body fat and beer intake would have an impact on your rating. let us not forget age. since i turned 65 i love to play the "age" card. as to the excuse of worn sails, biminis and polars and vectors (whatever those are), i doubt if matt qualifies as "not a threat" as even partially capsized he is probably faster than me. hmmm polars and vectors----let me look that up.

You guys are too much! I promise to be no threat this year, although I am waiting for parts from Defender...just got my tax form today, so will get the registration out in the mail Monday and hopefully step the mast and tune the rig next weekend. No chance this weekend with prior engagements...
