Hi
I have notice some pictures with teak rings around the outside of the round portholes to give it a more finished look. I have seen it on the 19 and 23s with the older round portholes. Don't know if they are custom or can be purchased . Any information would be appreciated
Thanks
Mitch
I haven't seen it but you could always contact Compac to see about it. It would probably be really easy to do with a hole saw for the round ports.
That being said...More teak on the outside! Ugh! Bright work is WORK! I wouldn't mind having stainless steel on the outside and keep the teak on the inside.
Thanks for the response
I do like the teak on the outside .I do vanish the teak to keep them nice and I love the Compac classic look with the teak. I have not contacted compac but did check the parts list and could not find. Have seen them on many 19ft that are on the web But so far nobody can tell me where they got them.
Thanks
Mitch

Wasn't there a change to the design of the 19 which changed the projection of the port, which then required a filler to make up the space. 19 owners correct me if I'm dreaming here, but I thought that happened at one time
I owned a 1982 compact 19 and the portholes were the same as my 1987 compact 23. They kind of look unfinished considering the consideration for detail on the rest of their boats.
1989 CP19 and they stick out some, half inch maybe? I like the way it looks to be honest, and had a guy custom make screens for it.
The only thing around the port holes is the heads of the screw style bolts holding it to the dog house

Brackish, that change you're thinking about is to the 19XL version. The interior area behind the ports on XL's have a fiberglass liner that is thinner than the wood used on earlier models. Since it's thinner, the ports when screwed down stick out a bit further-probably and inch or 1 1/8" maybe.
For now I have those hideous PVC elbows friction fit and taped around the ports to allow venting the boat 24x7.
Wouldn't mind making some nicer looking and smaller scoops for these ports one of these days.
I love teak, and have a few really nice teak boards for future projects, but don't like the ring around the ports look. Then again they would look a lot nicer than the PVC elbows! HaHa!
Hey Mac - it's really good to have you back and posting regularly. You add a lot to this community.

I thank you Wes, I am glad to be back. It is helping give me something to center my life back on through this divorce. This divorce is devastating to me....... sailing and the possibility to be back on the boat over the next few months is giving me a great focus for my life!
I have missed it greatly, as well as the forum and friends!
