Pretty cool! I've always wondered if it could be done but I never tried it.
I've seen this done in the San Juan Islands.....boat pointed north but moving south....of course there it's due to a southbound 10+ knot tidal current!

It's pretty much a required skill for dinghy sailors. Boat control is key, forward, aft, holding one position. Not hard to learn. It just takes patience.
